The letter that was sent to all Melcher-Dallas residents in the July water bill was for public informational purposes only. The City has received multiple complaints from concerned citizens regarding illegal burns and several complaints regarding bushes, weeds, and low hanging trees over public sidewalks impeding passage. As a result, a letter outlining City Ordinances was sent out to notify the public of their responsibility vs City responsibility. (please see link below)
The follow up letter that was sent to individual property owners was initiated at the request of the fire department and implemented by the City Council as a result of damage inflicted to the Melcher-Dallas ambulance and potential damage to other vehicles due to low hanging branches over the street. As a result of the above mentioned issues, the City Council requested the actions taken by City employees.
